Project Information
MODEVRA comprises a multidisciplinary approach in frame of CEEX Romanian
Program as well as
ERA
aiming at: developing interlinked and verified
predictive modelling tools for assessment of crustal deformation for risk
prediction in Vrancea seismic area.
The overarching scientific objective of MODEVRA is:
-
to understand the mechanically coupled, interrelated processes and
temporal interactions between geophysical processes leading to the
hazardous activity associated with earthquakes in Vrancea area, Romania
-
to assess, mitigate and manage the risks posed by these hazards,
existing and fresh data from multi-sensor surveillance networks GPS
and satellites, geologic, seismologic in situ monitoring data,
combined within a time-dependent
GIS
will be analyzed - to harmonize data and methodologies for
understanding geophysical processes across Romania and Europe
MODEVRA will apply advanced methods of data analysis to enhance physical
models for calculating, predicting, and interpreting the consequences of
such geophysical activity. MODEVRA will support the implementation of new
European-scale risk management systems.
